We are seeking our first in-house legal hire, preferably a dynamic English-law qualified senior in-house counsel or mid-level private practice DCM specialist to join our team and report to our CEO and co-founder, Max.
This position is responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of our business operations, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing strategic guidance to the executive team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing legal risks, drafting and negotiating contracts, and offering comprehensive legal advice to support our business objectives.
The ideal candidate will hit the ground running, building on the work of external counsel to identify target jurisdictions for new business launches, address regulatory/compliance/AML/KYC issues, proficiently draft and update bond documentation in-house, and coordinate outside specialist advice for the CEO.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the executive team and provide guidance on legal matters related to corporate strategy, business development, and risk management.
- Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review, draft, and negotiate bond documentation and a wide range of commercial contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business decisions and ensure compliance with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and oversee the coordination of legal services provided by outside firms.
- Provide legal guidance and support to various departments within the company, including marketing, product development, finance, and HR.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and changes in legislation that may impact the company's operations.
- Advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights, and ensure appropriate protection of the company's assets.
- Assist in the resolution of any potential legal disputes or litigation matters involving the company.
- Conduct internal legal training sessions to enhance legal awareness and promote compliance within the organization.
Requirements
- English-law qualified (4 PQE+) mid-level or senior associate from a top-tier DCM practice with in-house secondment experience to one of the banks in a DCM-focused role, or a more experienced lawyer working in fixed income at a Financial Institution or Fintech in a senior in-house, head of legal, or GC role.
- Trained, qualified, and practiced in a highly ranked DCM practice of a UK or US firm.
- Interest in the crypto/digital asset space.
- Strong knowledge of debt capital markets, corporate and commercial law, including expertise in areas such as financial and securities regulations, contract law, intellectual property, and data privacy.
- Experience in the financial technology or fintech industry is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice to senior management and guiding decision-making processes.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and effectively manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
